Sailors of the Week, Weekend 3, Fall 2014


***Landy and Belling are the NEISA COED Sailors of the Week***

Cambridge, MA—9/23/14-Graham Landy ’15 and Charlotte Belling ’16 are the NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week for their winning performance in A-division at the Hatch Brown Trophy hosted by MIT.  Landy and Belling battled notorious Charles River conditions and were incredibly consistent, propelling Yale to a ninety-eight point regatta win. 

***Barnes and Kuntz are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week***

Enfield, NH—9/23/14- With a dominating performance in A-division at the Mrs. Hurst Regatta at Dartmouth College, Nikole Barnes ’17 and Savannah Kuntz ’17 are named NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week. The sophomore duo from the Coast Guard Academy notched 10 top-3 finishes over the 18 races contested and were the only pair to finish with less than 100 points in either division at the end of the regatta. This is the second weekend in a row that Kuntz is recognized as a top performer.

Around the Conference—

NEISA hosted seven different regattas over the 2nd weekend of the fall collegiate season. Yale won the Hatch Brown Trophy, named after the long-time MIT Sailing Master. The Coast Guard Academy won the Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth. Continuing their strong tradition of supporting College Sailing, both Hatch Brown and Christine Hurst made appearances at their namesake regattas. Boston College prevailed at the Lake Champlain Open hosted by the University of Vermont in extreme sailing conditions. At the revamped Sacred Heart Invitational, the University of Rhode Island Rams bested the field of seven. Boston College hosted the Boston Harbor Invitational in their new fleets of boats; Tufts sailed away with the win. Connecticut College won Donaghy Bowl at UConn by one point over Johnson and Wales.  Down in MAISA, Harvard took second place at the 65th Nevins Trophy.
