NEISA Sailors of the Week, Fall 2026, September 18-19

Women's Sailor of the Week
Yale University’s Audrey Foley ‘28 is your NEISA Women’s Sailor of the week for her win at the NEISA Women’s Singlehanded Championship. After the first day of racing in four very shifty races, Audrey sat in 2nd place overall, two points behind regatta leader Kate Danielson from Harvard. Saturday brought markedly different conditions with a fading easterly breeze and the two boats from Harvard and Yale traded the lead throughout most of the day. In the latter half of the afternoon, Foley found her groove, winning four of the final five races to take over the lead and ultimately extend to a commanding 12-point victory in the small but extremely competitive fleet. This conference championship victory earns Foley an automatic berth to the ICSA Women’s Singlehanded National Championship in November

Open Sailor of the Week
Brown University’s James Pine ’30 is your NEISA Open Sailor of the week for his win at the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship. The first day of racing brought four very puffy and shifty races, somewhat uncharacteristic of traditional singlehanded racing. James managed to find some impressive consistency in the larger fleet and tricky conditions that saw many boats post much more volatile scorelines. At the conclusion of racing, first-year Pine held a narrow three-point lead over Jake Homberger from Boston College but had already begun to extend away from the rest of the fleet. Saturday brought significantly different conditions with a dying easterly, but Pine was again able to find some early consistency and extended his lead to as much as 20 points over 2nd place. Although Homberger came on strong in the lighter breeze at the end of the day, winning the final two races, Pine’s early consistency proved to be the difference maker and he managed to hold on for a four-point win to claim the conference championship. This victory earns Pine an automatic berth to the ICSA Open Singlehanded National Championship this November.
