November 18, 2025

Harvard University captured the 2025 College Sailing Match Race National Championship, capping the fall season in another weekend of light-air racing. The Crimson went undefeated to secure the title.

“Winning College Sailing Match Race Nationals was a rewarding conclusion to a successful fall season after winning [Open] ACCs and the NEISA Fall Championship,” said Justin Callahan ’26. “This team means everything to me. Having my twin brother, Mitchell, by my side made the victory all the more meaningful, along with Kate and Harrison, who competed with me in Poland this summer where we earned bronze for the USA at the World Championship.”

Cornell’s Dondona and Harvard’s Meek win College Sailing Singlehanded National Championships
November 10, 2025

A weekend defined by patience and light‑air mastery produced standout performances across the fleet as Cornell’s Gilda Dondona ’28 captured the women’s title and Harvard’s Robby Meek ’27 secured the open championship at the College Sailing Singlehanded National Championships.

Athletes arrived and rigged in 8–13 knots from the west-northwest, but the breeze shifted right and faded, leaving the first race to conclude in very light air. Harvard opened strong with wins from Meek and defending champion Sophia Montgomery ’25. Meek earned an automatic berth this year after winning The Monotype Trophy: NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship, taking the title by 27 points over 11 races.

Racing was completed today in the College Sailing Team Race National Championship hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. with support from local clubs, Severn Sailing Association, Annapolis Yacht Club, Annapolis Sailing School and Eastport Yacht Club, who helped store boats and teams and Georgetown University for helping to supply FJs and Old Dominion University with a ref boat. This is the second of three, spring college sailing national championships hosted by the Naval Academy. The top twelve collegiate team racing teams in the nation competed for the national title and the Walter C. Wood Trophy and the host school, Navy, came away the winners.

ANNAPOLIS, M.D. (May 20, 2021) - Racing concluded today in the College Sailing Women’s National Championship hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy. After two days of challenging racing in light breeze, the College of Charleston came away as the winners of the national championship and the Gerald C. Miller Trophy.

The racing over the last two days brought light winds and shifty conditions. The first day was all about boat speed and the Boston College sailors excelled at this winning the day - although closely followed by the College of Charleston, Tulane University, Stanford University and the U.S. Naval Academy - in the top five.

ANNAPOLIS, M.D. (May 18, 2021) – The Women’s College Sailing National Championships start tomorrow, Wednesday, May 19th, and will run through the 20th, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy. The two remaining spring Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Championships, the LaserPerformance College Sailing Team Race Nationals and the Gill College Sailing Dinghy Nationals, will follow in the coming weeks.

The 2021 ICSA Spring Season officially has a championship slate as five national championship regattas are set to be sailed throughout the month of May and into June. College Sailing has cautiously resumed small, local events, primarily along the Eastern Seaboard with the ultimate goal of returning to full sized regattas to finish the season with a newly crowned champion.

Though some of the specific details have yet to be completely ironed out, the Naval Academy will provide their impressive fleet with assistance from surrounding yacht clubs to run the three double-handed regattas that staple the spring season. The yacht clubs that will be assisting are: Annapolis Yacht Club, Severn Sailing Association, Eastport Yacht Club and Annapolis Sailing School.
